In the presence of angels...actually 9 of them.

Ric and I had such a wonderful time working with Kelley and Romero--we really enjoyed ourselves and were so glad to be a part of their day. We were there to get shots of Kelley having her make-up done by Steve Moore and Ric got some of the most beautiful preparation shots of her. We were all commenting that she looked like a young Diana Ross (with much more sophisticated, tamed hair, of course!).

What really impacted me was Kelley's committee of women who planned and oversaw all the different aspects of her wedding. One woman was assigned to the photographers (thanks Rebecca for being so warm and helpful!), another to the hostesses and ushers, another to the flowers, etc etc. These women were all dear friends of Kelley's Mom, Brenda. These women, who were dubbed "The Angels" had known Kelley's Mom since college. And, they are still the dearest of friends. I just know how incredibly VITAL my girlfriends are to me, and was so moved and inspired by this group. What an amazing example to set for Kelley, that she grew up knowing the importance of dear friends. These women are friends who were family to Kelley and her Mom. Everyone needs a group like The Angels.

The ceremony was so beautiful. She was married by the Pastor of her church and also by her dear family friend, Ambassador Andrew Young. He quoted passages and did the traditional wedding-type speech...but also was very personal and practical. One comment that stood out with me was "Marriage is a mystery." I'll drink to that. After the ceremony, we headed over to the reception at the Omni Hotel, and the reception was really fun. Most importantly, the couple was happy--actually beaming--the entire night. We always love to see that, a bride and groom that is obviously meant to be together, and so joyous on their wedding day.

During the toasts, Kelley's Dad remarked on how lucky they all were to have an Atlanta Treasure there in the room in Andrew Young. I agree. Another Atlanta Treasure was there, and was gracious enough to pose with Ric for a photo. Hank Aaron is also a dear friend of Kelley's family, his wife Billye was the Angel who did the introductions and toast at the reception. What a lovely woman. And, what a gracious gentleman for Mr. Aaron to let us take his photo. Ric knew how much it would mean to his Dad to have a photo of him with Hank Aaron, so we asked if he'd mind. And yes, an 8x10 is in the works for Bob Mershon's office wall!

We left that celebration with huge smiles on our faces, encouraged and energized that we were able to be a part of yet another wonderful couple's new beginning. It was just a beautiful day from start to finish.
